Beyonce and Tina Launch New Clothing Line

Beyonce and Mama Tina are launching a spin off to House of Dereon. Sasha Fierce is inspired by Beyonce’s stage presence and are a reinterpretation of Beyonce’s costumes.

The juniors’ line includes a full range of sportswear, outerwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear, lingerie, and jewelry. Just in time for back to school shopping, the line is available at Macy’s and Dillard’s and specialty stores Jimmy Jazz and Against All Odds. The collection wholesales from $25 to $75

Mama Tina describes the line as “edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude.” She goes on to describe the accessories as “really over the top.”

Brown Porcelain Dolls of the Week

This is a day early. I will be out shopping catching the holiday sales on Friday. Enjoy!

Celebrity Fragrance Saturation

Jay-Z. Kimora Lee Simmons. Sarah Jessica Parker. Michael Jorden. Beyonce. Britney Spears. 50 Cent. Naomi Campbell. J. Lo. Ashanti. Usher. Mariah Carey. Gwyneth Paltrow. What do ALL of these Celeb’s have in common? Fragrances.

The latest trend to hit TinselTown is creating and/or endorsing perfumes. It all started in May of 2005 when a vast amount of celeb’s invested in Carol’s Daughter. In a year sales went from $5 million to $35 million!

Since 2005 over 100 Musicians, Actors/Actress, Athletes, Models, Socialites, and Fictional Characters have all managed to create or endorse a fragrance.

Is this the new clothing line? I’m not sure how I personally feel about this. One part of me is all about making that money, but then the other side of me thinks this is a huge expensive gimmick. What are your thoughts?

Color Coordination

Choosing colors that are good for you can be a strenuous task. But it’s very important that we have an understanding of color theory because it can help you to match colors in your closet, coordinate you clothes to create stylish outfits for every mood and occasion, and choose colors that flatter you skin tone.

There are a few basic tips when shopping for colors that match well with your skin tone.

  • Build your wardrobe around neutral colors that can be dressed up or down, and can be easily used season after season.
  • When choosing colors always go 3x’s darker or lighter. Meaning that if you have a fair skin tone, don’t choose colors that are pale and will wash you out. If you have a darker skin tone, light colors will give you more of a contrast. Dark colors on someone who has a darker complexion will be more subtle.

As I mentioned earlier we want to be able to create stylish outfits for every mood and occasion so choose colors that creates emotions. You are probably wondering what I mean by that. Warm colors, such as magenta, red, orange, yellow, and greenish-yellow are stimulating colors that motivate energy and excitement. Cool colors, such as shades of purple, blue, turquoise and green usually cause people to feel more calm and relaxed. These two pictures of Beyonce are prefect example of the warm vs. cool colors. The colors that she is wearing on the left are warm colors which create more excitement, which goes perfect with the mood, because it looks like she is performing. The cool colors on the right that she is sporting are more welcoming, these are colors you would want to gravitate to when going on a date.

Going back to the basics, we remember from elementary school that our primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. To put a different spin on these colors and get a different look, you can use complementary colors. These colors can be added to give you more of an intense look. Notice the color wheel here. You can always know what the complementary color is, because it’s directly across from the primary color.
Red’s complementary color is green
Blue’s complementary color is orange
Yellow’s complementary color is purple

Complementary colors command attention. So if you are looking for a mellower or blend in with the crowd look, maybe an office party you would want to stay away from these colors.

At the end of the day do what works for you. If you have confidence to boldly embrace color, go ahead and wear large amounts of bright color such as tropical colors. If not, stick with what you are comfortable in. If you want to incorporate small amounts of color you can do so by layering a bright color under a more neutral base color or have basic colors with colored accessories for that pop of color.

Style Tip: How to Edit

If you’re anything like me, your closet has WAY too many clothes. With an abundance of fast fashion stores, (Forever 21, Topshop, H&M), its hard not to have a ton of clothes.

However the first step to achieving style is learning how to edit. Your closet should only contain amazing choices-it’s much easier to be inspired when you see five remarkable pieces than when you see twenty-five average pieces.

Here are six tips on editing your closet and shopping habits.

  1. Throw out what you don’t wear and what doesn’t look good on you: For every 20 items you toss, buy 1 killer piece

  2. Buy the right size: It’s better to buy the realistic size and enjoy the way the clothes make you feel at the moment

  3. Don’t be sucked in by the sale tag: If you are never going to wear the item-you don’t need it

  4. Don’t play it too safe: A closet full of safe choices is no fun! You should wake up and be inspired by what is in your closet.

  5. Do not buy according to the trends: Wear what suits you and what makes you comfortable

  6. Be ruthless when you edit: Do not keep items for sentimental reasons. Do not keep items because you paid a lot for them, or because they will fit again. If you haven’t worn them in years, you will never wear them again.

Follow these tips and you are on your way to finding your inner fierce fashionista.

Hot or Not: Solange

I'm all about individual style and I usually love Solange's look, but this? I don't know? So ladies is this HOT or NOT!

BET Awards: Best Dressed

This year's show was full of the good and the bad. Here is a look at a few of the best from the night.

Beyonce looked fierce in a dress from Balmain's Spring 2009 line

Peep Bey's shoes!

Amber Rose took the best dress award (despite Amerie showing up in the same outfit).

Up and Coming Fashionista Letoya looked fierce in an embellished Balmain dress

Another up and coming Fashionista-LaLa-looked gorgeous in a white origami cut dress

Taraji showed off some sexy back cleavage. I HATE YOU JODY! Loved it!

Causal Chic

Let’s just face it ladies, we are not going to have a great fashion day everyday. Glamorous gowns and cocktail dresses are not practical for everyday; however, you can still look fabulous and fashionable even on those days that you don’t want to leave the house.

Casual chic is more of a style than a trend. Loose fits and slouchy accessories are ideal for fashionistas who cultivate a laidback, faux unkempt look.

Conceptually, it's all about easy-to-wear items in baggy, flowing cuts. Boyfriend jeans are clear winners this season, as are little tops and jersey dresses. You'll also find feminine draped wraps, casual shoe boots and lots of light fabrics.
