Style Tip: How to Edit

If you’re anything like me, your closet has WAY too many clothes. With an abundance of fast fashion stores, (Forever 21, Topshop, H&M), its hard not to have a ton of clothes.

However the first step to achieving style is learning how to edit. Your closet should only contain amazing choices-it’s much easier to be inspired when you see five remarkable pieces than when you see twenty-five average pieces.

Here are six tips on editing your closet and shopping habits.

  1. Throw out what you don’t wear and what doesn’t look good on you: For every 20 items you toss, buy 1 killer piece

  2. Buy the right size: It’s better to buy the realistic size and enjoy the way the clothes make you feel at the moment

  3. Don’t be sucked in by the sale tag: If you are never going to wear the item-you don’t need it

  4. Don’t play it too safe: A closet full of safe choices is no fun! You should wake up and be inspired by what is in your closet.

  5. Do not buy according to the trends: Wear what suits you and what makes you comfortable

  6. Be ruthless when you edit: Do not keep items for sentimental reasons. Do not keep items because you paid a lot for them, or because they will fit again. If you haven’t worn them in years, you will never wear them again.

Follow these tips and you are on your way to finding your inner fierce fashionista.

Style Tips: What is Style?

"Style comes from knowing who you are & who you want to be in the
world"

Most people use fashion and style interchangeably, however fashion and style are different. Fashion denotes the latest popular trends, however style denotes a way to define yourself. Style is personal. It come from within. There aren't any rules.

Some people think clothes aren't important. "They are just clothes, shoes, and bags...." Clothes are so much more. They are a large part of a women's character and tell the world a little bit of her story without saying a word. What you put on in the morning is the first thing people notice about you. And we all know first impressions make a lasting impressions.

What if one morning you have an important interview with the company you've always dreamed working for. You run to the store for breakfast-in your scarf and pajamas. While in line you have light conversation with a well dressed lady. When you get to your interview...IT'S THE LADY AT THE STORE!

Why do you freak out? Because the way you dressed at the store may have given the interviewer the wrong impression. Therefore, clothes are important. In the weeks to follow I will provide style tips so everyone can find their inner Brown Porcelain Doll.
