Style Tip: How to Edit

If you’re anything like me, your closet has WAY too many clothes. With an abundance of fast fashion stores, (Forever 21, Topshop, H&M), its hard not to have a ton of clothes.

However the first step to achieving style is learning how to edit. Your closet should only contain amazing choices-it’s much easier to be inspired when you see five remarkable pieces than when you see twenty-five average pieces.

Here are six tips on editing your closet and shopping habits.

  1. Throw out what you don’t wear and what doesn’t look good on you: For every 20 items you toss, buy 1 killer piece

  2. Buy the right size: It’s better to buy the realistic size and enjoy the way the clothes make you feel at the moment

  3. Don’t be sucked in by the sale tag: If you are never going to wear the item-you don’t need it

  4. Don’t play it too safe: A closet full of safe choices is no fun! You should wake up and be inspired by what is in your closet.

  5. Do not buy according to the trends: Wear what suits you and what makes you comfortable

  6. Be ruthless when you edit: Do not keep items for sentimental reasons. Do not keep items because you paid a lot for them, or because they will fit again. If you haven’t worn them in years, you will never wear them again.

Follow these tips and you are on your way to finding your inner fierce fashionista.
